The Philosophy curriculum at Trinity combines a strong emphasis on the history of philosophy with a rich variety of courses on the various disciplines of philosophy as well as contemporary issues and problems.

These include:

  • Introductory and survey courses covering various periods in the history of  philosophy.
  • Introductory courses on various topics in philosophy, including ethics, political philosophy, philosophy of art, philosophy of film, philosophy of sport, African philosophy, and philosophy of human rights.
  • Courses specifically developed around critical thinking, symbolic logic, philosophy of mathematics, and computers.
  • Courses on cognitive science, the mind and the brain, and on philosophic issues in the emerging neurosciences.
  • Upper-level courses on major thinkers in the history of philosophy, including Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, Freud, Foucault, and Sartre.
  • Upper-level courses on advanced topics in philosophy, including ethics, political philosophy, public policy, epistemology, and philosophy of language.
